Spring Walk
Walking up the red brick
Of a monday morning
Listening to the birds
Smelling the fresh cut grass
Old town
So beautiful in the glimmering Day break
As the light of day
Lights up the morning
Waking the song of the day
In the morning
From the chirping
Of the young
With wing for the horizon
Of Tomorrow
As the birds feed
Feed their young
With the early catch
They grow so fast
They leave the nest
As quickly as the are hatched
To stretch their wings
Of knowledge
That you have fostered
That you have taught
Then the rise
Like the sun
In the morning breeze
To catch the wind
To glide into the horizon
Into the light of the future
As they become grown up
Have their children in their season
Season of their Spring
And they too
Will watch their young hatch
And learn
and fly away
As I walk the red brick
In Old town Alexandria
I have watched many sunrises
And know that I have seen
Many of my students grow
And fly away from the nest
Maybe one day I will see
See my own Fly away
As I look at the sun
I shed a tear
In the morning light
To walk in the breeze
In the season of Spring
Spring Walk
