Walk at Dawn
As I step up the step
Of the house I dwell
I feel God caressing
My cheeks as a brisk breath
Of God awakens me
To a start of a new day
I look round to see I am alive
To see I have another day
To make my life worth something
To show my dad that he did good
In his oldest son
All the talks; all the walks; all the fishing
That it was for something
I walk in my suit
To feel my dad's spirit
Walking with me
Telling Me
Right from wrong
His voice in my head
In my heart
That I have another day to do good
He always told me:
Remember where you came from
Help others
Think before you do
I always hear and feel it
In my gut
In my heart
In my mind
I see the little foxes
In the morning
The little birds all around
Hearing them chirp
Chirp their songs
As it start to lighten
And the shadows fade
I sometimes see my fathers
My fathers steps as he fades
Faded into the mist
Mist of the morning
To know I am not walking alone
But with my father in the morning
Every morning
Like in my childhood.
When we fed the ducks
Or get the newspaper
In the morning
My father would get me
Yoohoo and small cakes
Like when he was a kid
He wanted to share his past
With me.
He will always live in my heart
He will always walk with me
In life.
